Dear Denise,
Please share with your clubs and celebrate Foundation month! We're really looking forward to seeing you Saturday, April 20th at 5pm to kick-off our delicious meal of Country Western-inspired food. Please don't forget to wear your favorite Western shirt or other festive Western attire and bring $10 to drop at the door (this cover charge will go to the ASR operating budget). Don't forget to bring an item for the live auction which will begin at 6pm to bid on parcel post boxes from Alaska or around the world (min. value $100). There will also be some delicious desserts to bid on via silent auction. All auction proceeds support the Rotary Foundation. Also, if you would like to bake an item for the silent auction you may sign up below.
We can't wait to see you there - especially our new 23-24 members! Cathleen Lewis, Foundation Chair, will share what it's all about and will have everyone's details. April is ASR's unofficial Rotary Foundation month. Thanks again to immediate past DG Mike and Shannon Ferris for opening up and decorating their home for us for this fun event. Dr. Jharrett Bryantt joined the Anchorage School District (ASD) in the summer of 2022 as superintendent. Prior to joining ASD, Dr. Bryantt served as the Houston Independent School District’s Executive Officer of Talent. Houston ISD is the 7th largest school district in the United States. It serves more than 194,000 students in 283 schools. In his role, he led the offices of talent acquisition & retention, compensation, performance management, human resources information systems, and talent development for HISD’s 26,000 employees. During his time, he spearheaded an overhaul of the compensation plan to increase teacher starting pay to rank 3rd in the region from 9th. He also helped create a pathway for providing competitive additional compensation for teachers based on student growth or pursuing National Board Certification. He leveraged ESSER funds to increase the number of paid teacher residencies, “Grow Your Own” teacher initiatives, and subsidized tuition and certification to recruit educators of color.
As we get closer to the meeting date, we are likely going to have a special prepared by Nate Bentley and his amazing team at Altura. Until then, the normal lunch fare is the option.
Please have your orders placed by 10:00 on Thursday, the google sheet to sign up for lunch can be found here LUNCH ORDER SIGN-UP LIST.
